Dealing With a Toddler.

These are just some things that have made my life with my crazy little goblin better. I am not going to get paid for anything I post here, its all about the knowledge baby.

I am first going to start off with an intro about my toddler. She just turned 3 and you know what they say. Terrible twos and asshole threes. (Whoever made that up knows the struggle). She is into dinosaurs, saying ‘no’, and only eating sugar. She tests me on a daily basis because she can. She is trying to figure out how far mom will go before she snaps. She is trying to figure out many things. Watching a three year old is wonderful and things are just now clicking in her brain, so you can literally see the gears turning. Their personality is starting to arrive and in a grand way. Like the parade in Aladdin.

Which is great but hard to deal with. This is why we do crafts! Every damn day we do a craft. Could be something as little as finger painting or Play-Doh or just coloring in the coloring book. Could be something big like making giant jellyfishes out of plates, ribbon, glue and lots and lots of glitter. I mean we make it rain glitter. She loves it!! Not only does it exercise those brain muscles but its a healthy and creative outlet for all that crazy energy. She learns skills like fine motor development from using Play-Doh scissors and speech skills from naming colors on the jelly fish. Using crafts either big or small can do wonders toward your child’s development and temperament. Its a constructive outlet for their anger, sadness or happiness. Below I have posted some ideas on what you can do with your toddler both big and small. We have tried all of these and they worked great!

Another thing we do on a daily basis is exercise. That sounds like a lot of work but let me tell you about this wonderful thing called YouTube. YouTube has tons and tons of children’s exercise videos or yoga. Or you could just let them jam out to some baby shark or Meghan Trainor! Honey just pop one on and eat your lunch or do your hair or just have 5-10 minutes of alone time. Its fantastic, the kids love it, the adults love it. It stimulates the brain and gross motor skills. Burns off that crazy toddler energy. I love to do it before we eat lunch. That way shes hungry and tired, she fills up on food then takes a nap without a fuss. We did crafts and exercised now what? We read. I don’t know about your toddler but my toddler loves our half hour long story time. Sometimes we do activity’s while we read and sometimes we just sit and have quiet time. For example when we read The Little Blue Truck by Alice Shertle, She gets to hold her hot-wheels truck and some of her little animals and as we read the book she gets to play with whatever animal come up in the book. She loves it! But there are days were we just sit and read. Her absolute favorite book is Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. She loves the repetitive writing and all the wonderfully drawn fishes. It always takes us at least 5 minutes to read a book. We always go over what colors we see and how many things there are. It is great one on one time and man does she learn alot.

These three things are just a small part of what makes our days great and my toddler happy. A lot more goes into dealing with a toddler but these three easy activities sure make a major impact on my toddlers behavior.
